About Us

How Equilegal can assist you

A law firm run by an equestrian for equestrian disputes.

Equilegal is committed to assisting anyone within the equestrian field. Our work ranges from acting for equestrian professionals setting up a new business, assisting with the purchase of a suitable equestrian property, through to people buying their first horse and wanting advice.

We also act in disputes where buyers have purchased a horse and found that the seller acted inappropriately by misrepresenting to them.

Equilegal can assist you with all aspects of properties including the purchase or lease of equestrian properties. We can carry our any pre-purchase due diligence inquiries or assist you in any service agreements required to run an equestrian establishment.

Whatever type of business or discipline you are involved in, Equilegal can draft any necessary agreements for you such as stud agreements and agistment agreements.

Equilegal can review and advise on any equestrian agreements and negotiate any changes on your behalf. We can also act on your behalf against insurers, seller, transporters or establishments.

Equilegal’s principal, Leah Manning, left school to pursue a career in horses. After training for 2 years in England, she obtained her British Horse Society teaching qualifications.

Leah went on to manage large equestrian centres and then followed her passion for showjumping and worked for Lionel Dunning, a British international showjumper. Leah also had her own horses and competed herself.

Leah later decided to pursue a career as a lawyer, and was offered a position at one of Australia’s Top Tier law firms, Minter Ellison.

Leah is now combining her expertise and love of horses and law, to specialise in equine law. When you engage Equilegal, you are getting a top tier trained lawyer with a wealth of equestrian experience.
